Elizabeth Small, President and CEO of PDC Companies and pioneer of the affordable housing industry in Arkansas, retired from her position on December 31st, 2016. Her unbridled passion, unassailable spirit and uncompromising integrity were the foundation upon which her successful career was built. On January 25th, Elizabeth’s friends and family gathered to celebrate her time at PDC. And while she steadfastly refused to sing one last karaoke song for group, she did take a moment to say a few words to her PDC Family.

Elizabeth often joked she held just about every position at PDC over her 32 year career, the last of which, President and CEO, she held for over 20 years. As an industry leader, Elizabeth and the company she helped found were instrumental in growth and prosperity of the affordable housing industry in Arkansas. She served as Past President of the Affordable Housing Association of Arkansas, Past State Program Chair for the International Council of Shopping Centers and past Chairman of PDC Construction, a nationally certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise.

As a community leader, Elizabeth has represented a selection of the most well-respected organizations and businesses in the country, including positions on UALR College of Business’ Advisory Council, Arvest Bank Board, Hendrix College Board of Trustees, Fifty for the Future, Arkansas Women’s Forum/International Women’s Forum and Arkansas Women’s Leadership Forum and held the positions of Heifer International Public Facilities Chairman, Youth Home Board Past President, Hendrix College Alumni Board Past President, Rotary Club of Little Rock Past President, Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce Past President. She was recognized as SMEI Executive of the Year in 2009, UALR College of Business Distinguished Alumna in 2008, Leadership Greater Little Rock Alumni of the Year in 2008, Gaines Housing Sandra Wilson Cherry Award Winner in 2007, Arkansas Business’ “40 Under 40” in 1998 and Multiple Sclerosis Association of America Leadership Award Winner in 1996.

Over the course of her illustrious career, Elizabeth’s name became synonymous with words like “leader”, “entrepreneur”, “president” and “chairman”; however, in her retirement, she looks forward to trading those titles in and simply being “grandma”. So, from those of us you inspired and guided over the years, from the businesses you built and the organizations you led, from everyone at PDC Companies, PDC Construction and businesses throughout the state, we wish you the warmest of congratulations on your retirement!
